I know it feels slow. I know it and I know it and I know it. I also know we're doing our best, and that it never feels like enough. But I'm telling you this--living the change, actively and mindfully waking up every day and spending that day being authentically you, actively working and creating and living the world you want to see is the fiercest, most revolutionary act you can perform. Yes, sometimes we need to show up, voices carrying and colors flying, but that's only part of our authentic revolution--a part, but not the whole.
So go on in this day. Do your thing, quiet or not, but do it as you. Do it with all the romance and optimism in your heart, and let no one take that from you. Because once they have that, they have everything.
It's just physically, psychologically, and logically impossible that EVERYTHING is THAT important. But we are bred or nurtured or trained to think it is. This Western thing isn't work ethic--not really. We have that, for sure (ask this old-time Yankee--I hear you about the work ethic), but we carry something else, too--this sort of guilt/responsibility thing that tells us if we're NOT panicking about getting x/y/z done, then we're, what? Worthless? Or, rather, not worthy to be employed/educated/loved?
Well, let me tell you something--you paid for your ticket here, this incarnation. You're paying with your intelligence, your compassion, your empathy, and your attention. That's enough. Do what you can. Be honest with what you can handle. Let the rest go.
You may be surprised to remember that no one actually owns you. (You might get pissed off, too, but that's a post for another day...).
I know how hard it is, some days, to get out of bed. I know how hard it is, some days, to find the point, to find the floor, to find the clothing in which to dress this poor animal in for another day.
But think of it this way. We need you. We need your talents, your gifts, your unique battles and victories. This is why you're here. You're a warrior. Maybe you're a peaceful warrior, a brainy warrior, a crafty warrior, a warrior-artist.
Define yourself. Be grand.
Then get up.
Dress for the part.
Be here. Be wild. Become the force you were born to become.
