You know, I really don't think we give ourselves enough credit, ever. Not for the *real* stuff, anyway. Not for getting up and feeding the children (whatever variety of animal, vegetable, or mineral they happen to be in your household), dressing ourselves, showing up (showing up! --> that's the biggest thing...) for those to whom we promised to be present, feeding these bodies well, watering them, moving them around, engaging their intrinsic intelligence...
That's a lot. It's a lot and, at the end of the day, we don't say to ourselves (often enough, anyway), well done today. You didn't want to do the thing but you did it anyway. That's wild. That's brave. That's the act of an artist.
Right? Because it is. Artists create brave, bold work by taking their insides and just putting them out there to be inspected, criticized, and (hopefully) praised. Artists create because they have to create. It's a part of who they are. Well, we have to live, boldly, because it's a part of who we are.
So, sweet soul...go out there today. Create. Be bold. But most importantly? Recognize the artist in everyone, no matter what. It can be a scary place, this world of color and light.
