I think "the strong, silent type" is a thing for a reason. Sometimes it takes more strength to stand and be seen than it does to shout down your opposition from the relative, anonymous-enough safety of social media. In these times of almost dystopian hatred, nationalism, and fear, any means necessary to make yourself heard, agreed.
But also--show up. Stand up. Shut your mouth so that they have to look at your face--let them see your human-ness, rather than just hearing (and shutting down) your voiced opposition. Because they will drown you out; they're good at that.
But, you know, they can't un-see you.
So stand up. Be counted. Crowd them out. Because I promise you this: there are more of us than there are of them. They just have bigger amplifiers, more noise. They have to; to be believed, they have to hide behind that technology to continue their masquerade.
Our strength? We don't have to hide.
