It's really as simple as bringing your attention to your feet, taking a few moments to feel--really feel--what the sensation of your foot on the earth is like. It's a remarkably useful tool for cutting through all the crap we throw at ourselves on a daily basis--clock watching, fighting/giving in to x or y, mental chatter, judgment, boredom, anticipation of traffic/obligations/alarm clocks.
We are really, really, really good at making a whole lot of busy work for ourselves. But feet on the floor? That's simple. That's a relief. That's what reminds us we're here, and being here, in this moment of mindful grounding--a moment that, with repetition, has the potential of becoming a constant way of life--is easy.
Employ what it takes to remind yourself it can always be this easy.
